According to the 2013 Chinese College Graduates Employment Report released by MyCOS, a third-party research institute that specializes in education assessment, the occupations of waiter/waitress, hotel receptionist and physician became the three lowest paying jobs this year.
The average pay per month for a waiter, upon completion of a six-month probation, is approximately 2,240 yuan; a hotel receptionist can make 2,507 yuan on average; and a physician stands to get about 2,524 yuan.
This year's report shows the average monthly income has increased by 282 yuan or 10.2 percent compared to the previous year, amounting to an average of 3,048 yuan (US$497) for college students who graduated in 2012.
