Travel magazine "Condé Nast Traveler" has unveiled the results of its readers' survey on the world's 20 least friendly cities.
The U.S., the land of freedom and opportunity, also has certain places that are cold and unfriendly, with eight cities on the list.
Newark, in New Jersey was voted the least friendly city, with an average reader rating of 13.4. They complained that the people in Newark are rude. It is best known for its airport, which is a close-to-New York, but cheaper and quieter airport.
Pakistan's Islamabad is number two on the list, because readers claim it lacks charms, followed by another American city: Oakland, which is described as dirty and unsafe, with unfriendly people.
Two south China cities, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, are also on the list, ranking 11th and 14th respectively.
The survey is based on a number of factors, including "friendliness," and the cities with the lowest scores have made the list. However, everything including location, political perception, size, and language barriers can make a destination unattractive to tourists, and the outcome is sometimes nothing to do with the local people's manner and behavior.
