Sweden was ranked as the best place for people over 60 years old in the Global AgeWatch Index 2013, local media reported on Tuesday.
Covering 89 percent of the world's elderly people in 91 countries, the index measures the quality of life and wellbeing of the elderly.
Sweden is among the top 10 in all four domains: income security, health status, employment and education, and enabling environment, according to the Swedish Daily Svenska Dagbladet (SVD).
Norway and Germany ranked second and third respectively, while Afghanistan was ranked as the worst place to be old.
