When considering a higher education, it can be tricky to find out which institution is the best option. The latest ranking of Chinese universities has been released by the Center for World-Class Universities (CWCU) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, published here for your reference.
This ranking, the third annual edition of its kind, includes the top 100 universities in China: 64 on the Chinese mainland, 27 in Taiwan, 7 in Hong Kong and 2 in Macau. Beijing's Tsinghua University is the winner for the third successive year, followed by National Taiwan University and the Tsinghua University in Taiwan's northwest city Hsinchu.
Among the top 10, there are four universities from the Chinese mainland, three from Taiwan and three from Hong Kong. The University of Macau ranks 62nd, the best in Macau.
The top universities were selected on four criteria, personnel training, scientific research, quality of teaching and resources, accounting for 35 percent, 35 percent, 25 percent and 15 percent respectively. The information is based on world-famous databases, official statistics released by local education authorities, and the Global Research University Profiles conducted by CWCU.
