SUVs, or sport utility vehicles, are defined as "large vehicles that are designed to be used on rough surfaces but which are often used on city roads or highways" in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Their superior off-road capabilities and spacious interiors have attracted increasing numbers of Chinese consumers.
According to the latest statistics released by the China Passenger Car Association, Great Wall Motors' Haval H6 became 2013's top seller, with 217,889 units sold last year. Shanghai Volkswagen's Tiguan ranked second, closely followed by the Dongfeng Honda CR-V, with 199,782 and 199,333 units sold respectively.
