Fortune China released its latest list of the top 500 Chinese companies listed on domestic or overseas stock markets on July 14, 2014.
The lowest revenue of any of the companies included in the list reached 8.23 billion yuan (US$1.33 billion), up 13 percent over the same period of previous year.
The gross revenue of the top 500 companies totaled 28,900 trillion yuan, (US$4,640 trillion) accounting for more than 50 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) in China.
Twenty nine companies in the financial sector are listed in the top 500, with total profits of 1,270 trillion yuan (US$200 trillion), accounting for over 50 percent of the gross profit of the top 500 companies in China.
Thirty six companies such as JD.com Inc, China's second-largest e-commerce player after Alibaba Group, and Anhui-based Huishang Bank, made the top 500 for the first time.
The past year also saw unprecedented performances by Chinese companies on the global market, with 100 enterprises squeezing their way onto the 2014 Fortune Global 500 list.
