The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration is composed of Beijing and Tianjin municipalities in addition to the cities of Shijiazhuang, Zhangjiakou, Qinhuangdao, Tangshan, Baoding, Langfang, Xingtai, Handan, Hengshui, Cangzhou and Chengde in Hebei Province. It occupies 220,000 square kilometers centered around Beijing, accounting for 2.3 percent of China’s territory. The total population of the area has surpassed 100 million, accounting for 7.23 percent of the nation’s population.
