Virgin America, a carrier based in California, tops the list of the world's leading airlines that offer their passengers the best in-flight Wi-Fi coverage. Nearly 100 percent of Virgin's flight miles have Wi-Fi service, according to the Global State of In-Flight Wi-Fi report recently released by Routehappy.com, a New York-based product differentiation platform for air travel services.
To produce the report, Routehappy.com analyzed "all commercial flights in the global schedule on a typical mid-week travel day that met our criteria for having at least some chance of Wi-Fi by subfleet scheduled to fly a flight."
The report says that on all international airlines as a whole, passengers enjoy at least some chance of getting onboard Wi-Fi access on 24 percent of all flight miles worldwide. The odds of having onboard Wi-Fi access were 66 percent for flyers on airlines based in the United States.
52 airlines worldwide have made in-flight connectivity available in most regions, with connection quality and speed being constantly improved.
The following are the top ten most Wi-Fi-connected airlines in the world.
