Fortune China has released its latest ranking of the top 500 Chinese companies listed on domestic or overseas stock markets.
The top 500 Chinese companies had a combined 30.4 trillion yuan (US$4.9 trillion) in revenue, up five percent from last year, and 2.7 trillion yuan (US$434.1 billion) in profits, with a year-on-year growth of six percent.
The top 10 list of the most profitable companies is dominated by China's commercial banks. The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China ranked first, with total profits of 275.81 (US$44.43) billion yuan. It beat Apple Inc, the most profitable company in the United States. China Construction Bank and Agricultural Bank of China ranked second and third respectively.
The statistics were based on information published by the listed companies in stock exchanges.
