Tire Business, a website providing industry information, recently published the rankings of the Top 75 global tire companies based on the 2014 sales.
The total sales of the tire industry reached US$179.9 billion last year, 3.8 percent lower than the previous year, and the third drop in the new century.
Bridgestone, for the seventh straight year, tops the list, with sales of US$26.05 billion, followed by Michelin's US$24.67 billion and Goodyear's US$16.36 billion.
The positions of the top 17 remained unchanged, but South Korea's Nexen Tire Corp. advanced from 22nd l to 18th.
Among the top 75, there are 34 Chinese companies, including 29 from the Chinese mainland and five from Taiwan.
Six new faces appear in the list, which are China's Shandong Zhongyi Rubber Co. Ltd., Prinx Chengshan Tire Co., Weifang Yuelong Rubber Group, Qingdao Yellowsea Rubber Co. Ltd., Canada's Camso Ltd. and Russia's Altai Tyre Kombinat.
