The city channel of Sohu.com and three Shanghai-based data and urban planning institutions have released a report analyzing the urban environment of 336 cities above prefecture level in China in the first half (H1) of 2021.
The analysis was conducted based on air and water quality, thermal comfort, meteorological conditions, green spaces, and city elevation.The data was collected from central and local environment watchdogs, housing authorities, national meteorological observation stations as well as local governments.
The report aims to provide a big data reference for residentsin different cities. It also seeks to offer research-based views and advice for policy-makers, in a bid to help local governments improve living environments and optimize overall urban planning.
According to the report, Xishuangbanna Dai autonomous prefecture in Yunnan province has the most comfortable urban environment in China.Its air quality indexremained below 100 throughout the first half of the year, and its temperature was classed as “comfortable” for more than half of the days in H1.
Similar to the research for thefirst quarter of the year, all of the top 10 cities in the report are located in southern Chinese provinces of Yunnan, Hainan, Guangdong and Guangxi. Here we take a look at the 10 cities that made the list:
