# Great Green Wall for Restoration and Peace in Africa

Launched by the African Union in 2007, this initiative aims to restore savannas, grasslands and farmlands across Africa to help families and nature cope with climate change and keep the Sahara Desert from spreading deeper into one of the world's poorest regions.
2030 targets:
100 million hectares restored
250 million tons of carbon sequestered
10 million jobs created
