Ningxia's total general fiscal revenue for the first quarter was 9.65 billion yuan (US$1.48 billion)—up 30 percent from the previous year, according to the Department of Finance of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
From January to March, fiscal expenditure of Ningxia was 8.07 billion yuan (US$1.23 billion) and the expenditure on improving the livelihood for local residents grew 39.77 percent to 4.85 billion yuan (US$740 million), among which 697 million yuan (US$107 million) was spent on compulsory education, 1.45 billion yuan (US$222 million) on social security and jobs, 51.65 million?yuan?(US$7.9 million) on land governance, 100 million yuan (US$15.3 million) on rural highway construction, and 195 million yuan (US$29.8 million) on housing security.
