The famous painting, The Drunken Beauty, has been incredibly popular in the Chinese media since it first appeared on the front page of the well-known Hong Kong newspaper Ta Kung Pao during the Beijing Olympics. Since then, the painting has been a hot topic for local newspapers.
At the 2008 Olympic games, Shanghai Noon Post featured a full-page cover for the story of The Drunken Beauty, as its embroidery was presented to the Olympic Committee. The Ta Kung Pao again described the painting on the front page of its Expo issue as the "first painting that links the Expo with the Olympics".
During its exhibition at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in Taiwan and after its debut at the National Theater in Beijing and Hong Kong Exhibition Center, The China Post, United Daily News, Economic Daily as well as the Shanghai Business Daily all ran stories about The Drunken Beauty on their most important pages.
Furthermore, many famous magazines and newspapers selected The Drunken Beauty as their cover when its embroidery was presented to Mei Lanfang, a household name in Beijing opera who also once gave vivid performance in the story of The Drunken Beauty.
