Ninety percent of 120 World Expo souvenirs have been sold after a three-day online auction. To many's surprise, the prices didn't go as unreasonably high as expected.
The hottest souvenir of the auction is this collection of national medals of IOC members. It was purchased for about 22 times its original 1,000 yuan price.
Another star of the auction was expo passports, which are the expo tickets sealed with the visa stamps of various national pavilions.
The average price of this round of online auction was around 25 hundred yuan, though before the expo closed at the end of October, a passport numbered 0001 was auctioned for 410,000.
Fan Ganping, Vice General Manager, Shanghai, International Commodity Auction Company, said, "I think the auction of passport number 0001 is an exception. It represents the enduring value of the expo, but buyers should be cautious about investing in souvenirs. "
Some 20,000 buyers were attracted to the three-day online auction. 111 of the 120 souvenirs were sold.
