OUC offers courses in Science, Engineering, Agronomy (Fisheries), Economics, Liberal Arts, Pharmaceutics, Management, Law, and Education. Currently OUC has three campuses including Yushan campus, Fushan campus and Laoshan campus. There are over 22 colleges and departments with 71 undergraduate programs. OUC is one of the first universities approved to confer PhD degrees, Master's degrees and Bachelor's degrees by the State Academic Degree Committee. At present, OUC boasts five national key disciplines, six disciplines entitled to confer Doctoral degrees, seven post-doctoral mobile stations and 44 programs for Ph.D. degrees, 17 disciplines conferring Master's degrees, 131 programs for Master's degrees. OUC also has 13 areas of specialized engineering entitled to confer master's degrees, and two programs in Agriculture Promotion entitled to confer master's degrees including specialized programs such as MBA and MPA. There is one National Research Center for Marine Pharmaceutical Engineering Technology and one Chinese Center of Marine Biotechnology under UNESCO at Ocean University of China. Six disciplines have posts for professorship in the Cheung Kong Scholars Program. QU comprises of 25 colleges, 73 specialties with undergraduate programs covering literature, history, philosophy, law, economics, management, natural sciences, engineering, medical science, education, etc. There are 25 provincial key disciplines, laboratories, and engineering research centers, and 66 specialties with doctor and master programs. QUST has a staff of more than 2000, with 675 of them holding professorship, and 23,443 students, 1025 of them are postgraduates or PhD students. QUST has 7 PhD majors, 49 Master's degree majors, and 56 Bachelor's degree majors. Its feature majors include Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Information and Controlling Engineering. QUST always takes teaching as its core, and has educated more than 70,000 high-level professional talents for the society. In the past decade, QUST has won 13 State Technical Invention Prizes and State Science and Technology Progress Prizes. QUST develops rapidly in co-operation and exchange with foreign institutions. It has already established Sister University relationship with 24 universities of Russia, Germany, Korea, Canada, Australia, Japan, France, and USA. It was formerly known as Laiyang Agricultural College and among the first group of universities credited with rights to award bachelor degrees approved by Ministry of Education of China. QAU boasts its emphasis on agricultural science as her advantage and distinctive feature, and on the harmonious development of diverse branches including agriculture, sciences, engineering, economics, arts and management. At present, QAU has 21 colleges and one physical education department, offering 53 undergraduate programs and 31 master degree programs. QAU now consists of two campuses: One is in Qingdao and the other is in Laiyang, with a total area of 222 hectares. The university has set up many perfect teaching practice bases both inside and outside the campuses. The present university has more than 1800 faculty and staff, including 124 professors and 261 associate professors, and most of them have either doctor's or master degrees. In 1999, the patent of Yinguo, an artificial simulated germicide, was transferred at the price of 5 million yuan. The technology of extracting polysaccharide from the fermented liquid of Maitake(also Polyporus Frondosus in Latin) was transferred at the price of 9 million yuan in 2002. In 2004, the producing and managerial right of a new variety of corn--LN3 outside Shandong Province was transferred at the price of 1 million yuan. QAU pays great attention to international collaborations and exchanges. It has established relationships with 42 foreign universities and institutes in 17 countries of the world, including the United States, Canada, South Korea and Germany. In recent years, research co-operation with developed countries and personnel training for developing countries have become two important features of the university.
