The city of Qingdao released its action plan for development in traditional Chinese medicine between 2016 and 2030 in December, proposing to develop a strong sector with full coverage of the TCM services.
The action plan outlines development goals to be achieved in the years to come.
By 2020, TCM services will be available at all grassroots healthcare facilities to enable full coverage among local residents and it is specifically stated that there should be 5.8 beds per 10,000 people at public TCM hospitals, and 4.2 TCM doctors per 10,000 people at all healthcare facilities.
At the meanwhile, the city will introduce established and foster its own TCM experts to enhance the service force. TCM culture will be promoted with the construction of national and provincial recuperation-themed tourism facilities and characteristic towns.
And by 2030, TCM will account for 20 percent of all medical services in the city, and an even higher 30 percent of grassroots medical services. A strong force of TCM professionals will be formed including 10 TCM masters and 30 outstanding TCM clinical researchers.
