A major porcelain art exhibition has opened in Beijing to present the thousand-year-old history of porcelain making in Jing-de-zhen city. All of the exhibits are on loan from the Jing-de-zhen Porcelain Museum, which was established 55 years ago.
The exhibition has put together works by some of the most famous porcelain-makers from Jing-de-zhen.
The city has a porcelain-making history dating back over two millennia. It's seen by many as the indisputable home of Chinese porcelain.
Porcelain made in Jing-de-zhen has been associated with qualities of delicateness, transparency, and subtlety.
The works represented here show a combination of a highly traditional processes with modern design ideologies.
The items selected for the exhibit represent the very best from the Jing-de-zhen Porcelain Museum, which houses a collection of some twenty-thousand pieces of fine porcelain.
