The World Wide Fund for Nature celebrated Honor Day with a concert in Shanghai on Saturday. Performers called on the audience to take up the message and help protect the earth.
Since its establishment in 1961, the WWF has gained a worldwide reputation for its commitment to environmental protection. At the concert, bands and singers were there not only to perform, but most importantly to promote the idea of living a low-carbon life.
When Chinese rock pioneer Cui Jian and his band hit the stage, a short film called "Earth Hour" was played on the big screen. As the stage-lights gradually faded out, the audience was deeply moved. By using renewable resources, reducing lighting, and neutralizing its carbon emissions through purchasing Carbon Sinks, this concert truly echoed its theme.
