A 55-member Chinese rescue team has arrived in Rawalpindi, near the Pakistani capital Islamabad, with 25 tons of high-tech medical equipment and medicines.
The Chinese international search and rescue team includes 36 doctors and 19 experts and engineers with medical supplies worth 8 million yuan. The rescue is focusing on medical care and an independent field hospital will be built.
The Chinese rescue team will conduct relief operations in the worst flood-hit areas in southern Pakistan for at least three weeks and help flood victims prevent water-borne and other diseases. The aid mainly includes tents, water purification plants and other necessities that the Pakistani people urgently need.
