Southern tune originated more than 11-hundred years ago. On Friday at the World Expo, Taiwan based Han Tang Music Ensemble presented audiences with a southern musical dance show called "Records of Court Entertainment Office". The show provided people a chance to watch the song and dance from the Tang Dynasty.
With old music, beautiful clothing and decorations, the actress is dancing to drum beats, as if she were the dancer coming from the Tang Dynasty.
The dance is soft and gentle. The singing is embedded in traditional Chinese culture. The clothing is splendid. The scenes make the audience feel as if they were watching a great dance show during the Tang Dynasty.
Even after the show concluded, the audience could not stop talking about it.
An audience member said, "My husband and I come here just for the show. It is so great that I cannot even describe it."
"Records of Court Entertainment Office" is produced by Chen Mei-O, founder of Han Tang Music Ensemble in Taiwan. Chen Mei-O says the southern musical dance show combines three traditional Chinese culture elements together. They are the old Han language in Tang Dynasty, Southern Tune and the classical Pear Garden dances. She also invited a previous Oscar Winner of the best art direction, Ye Jintian, to design the stages.
"Records of Court Entertainment Office" ran for four nights at the Expo. The show will head to Fujian province, the hometown of Southern Tune at the end of the month.
