China is waging a prolonged and stringent fight against the illegal use of additives in food. The State Council has posted details on its website of intensive measures to crack down on their use.
The circular stresses that illicit drugs or any other materials that jeopardize human health are banned in the growing, cultivation, processing, and transportation of agricultural products.
Firms that intentionally add non-edible material to food products will face having their licenses revoked and confiscation of all illicit earnings.
People involved in the production and distribution of non-edible materials will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.
