In the women's draw China's Zheng Jie took on Sandra Zahlavova from the Czech Republic.
Zheng has not competed in almost half a year because of injuries. Her lack of competition showed as the Czech got off to a good start and broke Zheng to take a 3-1 lead.
Zheng would bounce back and start showing off her groundstrokes -- and taking control of the match.
Zheng would rally and win the final four games of the set to take it 6-4. Despite a fall midway through the encounter she dominated to fluster the Czech player and took the set in style.
Zheng Jie kept her momentum in the second set and broke Zahlavova on match point to win in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
Zheng Jie said, "When I fell down just now, I was really scared to get injuried. I just remind that when I got injured in Australian Open because of a fall. But today when I fell down, I heard fans' cheer of standing up standing up...it hasn't finished, you still got chance. Then I stood up quickly to continue."
