EU authorities have gathered in the French city of Strasbourg, stressing that a food product ban should not be implemented across all of Europe.

Dalli also briefed journalists on measures the EU has taken since the outbreak.

He said officials will continue to pursue the source of one of the deadliest bacterial outbreaks ever, and learn lessons from the incident. Meanwhile, EU Agriculture Ministers are due to hold emergency talks in Luxembourg.

They plan to discuss potential economic losses from the crisis. The meeting will also consider the compensation for farmers, and address a Russian ban on imports of fresh produce from the EU.
