The penultimate day of the Shenzhen Universiade saw hosts China successfully defend their women's waterpolo crown.

China faced USA for gold after reaching the final with a perfect record. Sharp shooter Ma Huanhuan opened China's account four minutes into the match. And the Chinese began to own the pool. Ma was the hero, blasting 5 goals on her own as China took an 11-1 crushing lead. The match ended as a contest, China dismantled USA 14-4 and retained the women's waterpolo title.
