Famed Chinese director Zhang Yimou's latest film, "Flowers of War" has come closer to international success than any other Chinese films.

In the 69th Golden Globe Awards, taking place in a short while in Beverly Hills in the US, the film will compete with four other movies for the Best Foreign Language Film award. With a budget of 100 million US dollars, "The Flowers of War" is the most expensive Chinese film ever made.
It featured a crew consisting of members from more than 20 countries and regions. Its competitors at this year's awards include hot pick "In the Land of Blood and Honey", the directorial debut of actress Angelina Jolie.
