After the second dress rehearsal of CCTV's Spring Festival Gala on Monday, it was time for performers to take a moment and think about how to perfect the details. Some of them are familiar faces from previous years, while others are newcomers. But every one of them is busy working hard to give the viewers their very best.
Tagou Martial Arts School is celebrating its tenth year in a row appearing on CCTV's Spring Festival Gala. The school sent in 4 programs featuring about 100 students, but in the end, only 16 young kungfu apprentices made the final cut to perform a drum-dance this time. After two dress rehearsals, they're confident they will qualify the final program list.
Zhong Yuehua, Tagou Martial Arts School, said, "I told my parents to find me on TV that night, I'll make them proud!"
These two comedians first built their reputation performing in the annual comedy sketch "Happy Mahua", which is hugely popular among young people. However, they are still nervous about their Gala performance, as they say that performing on nation-wide TV is nothing like standing on stage in a small theatre.
Shen Teng, a comedian, said, "Rehearsal was good, but it was different from what I expected."
Huang Yang, a comedian, said, "We're still working on the script. Plus, the atmosphere in the studio is more difficult to handle because we're farther from the audience."
As the third dress rehearsal on Wednesday draws near, there's not much time left for the performers to rework on their programs.
