The warm weather of May is coming alongside a season of blooming performances in northeast China's coastal city of Dalian. And there's something for everyone.
This is a classical piece of Peking Opera, named "Feng Huan Chao", literally means "Homecoming of a Phoenix." The plot covers the troubled story of the marriages of two sisters during the Ming Dynasty, some 600 years ago. Taiwan artist Wei Haimin was invited to play one of the lead roles.
Wei Haimin said, "There is such a good theatre in Dalian, and so many Peking Opera fans. I hope I can have more chances to give performances here."

The May Day holiday didn't leave out the kids though. Fairy tales like "Snow White" and "Little Red Riding Hood" were staged as well?-- helping inspire a new generation of would-be theater fans.
All this is something familiar for the city. Because of government support, Dalian residents are able to enjoy such shows almost every day at relatively low prices. And the policy is helping revive a vibrant theater industry in the city.
