Heavy rain continued to batter many parts of southern China on Monday, resulting in casualties and widespread evacuations.

42 rivers in southern China are still seeing rising water levels, triggering alerts. The flooding has claimed 11 lives, and impacted over 70 million from nine provinces.

Meanwhile 8 are missing, and some 16,000 have been evacuated. It is a different scenario playing out right now in eastern and northern China.

There drought is posing a great threat to agricultural production and resulting in water shortages for 4.28 million people.
