Chinese fishery patrol ship Yuzheng-204 has finished its mission in the East China Sea, and returned to port in Shanghai.
It was part of a fleet on a routine week-long patrol of the fishing moratorium. The Chinese ships encountered Japanese Coast Guard ships in waters 41 kilometers from the Diaoyu Islands.
China has stressed the fishery patrol ships are conducting their normal duties in Chinese waters. Patrols around the Diaoyu Islands have been going on since 2010. Their mission is to protect the fishery rights and interests of China, as well as the lives and property of Chinese fishermen.
