Usain Bolt anchored Jamaica's 4x100m relay team to victory in world record time of 36.84 seconds at the Olympic Games on Saturday. |
Jamaica’s men’s team has smashed the world record to claim gold in the 4-by-100 relay.
Champion sprinter Usain Bolt brought them home in 36-point-84 seconds...comfortably ahead of a very quick American team who tied the previous record. Canada’s team was disqualified, giving Trinidad and Tobago bronze.
Jamaica was trailing the Americans after two baton changes. But Yohan Blake overtook Tyson Gay on the third leg, allowing Bolt to gallop away from Ryan Bailey at the end.
Bolt has now completed the ’triple double’ by winning the same three events at consecutive Olympics. He is the first to do so in athletics for 108 years.
