In a letter addressed to the UN, the Syrian foreign ministry has accused the US and its Western allies of funding groups in the country linked to al-Qaeda.

According to Syrian state TV, the ministry said "Washington, France, Britain, Turkey and some other countries' funding and arming of terrorists in Syria constitute a flagrant violation of the principles of international law, and the UN Security Council’s laws pertaining to combating terrorism."
