The CBA All-Star weekend was raised to a high on Sunday night. The North team was taking on the South led by Yi Jianlian and Wang Zhizhi.
It could be the last All-Star match for the South's Wang Zhizhi, who was probably retiring at the end of the season. Yi Jianlian grabbed the first bucket for the South with a trademark jumper.
The North side was mainly made up of young players. Han Dejun answered back with a slam early on.
The North led by ten late in the third quarter, while Yi led the South to rally with the driving slam.
The former Dallas Mavericks forward had eight dunks on the night, including the double-handed jam. Yi finished with 18 points.
The South pulled within two points midway through the final quarter, but Sun Yue from the Beijing Ducks helped the North regain control.
Sun scored a match-high 28 points on the night. He led the North to a 6-point edge late on. Sun took the MVP award of the CBA All-Star. The North held on to beat the South 118-102.
"I’m very happy now. I enjoyed this game so much. I used to play with some of the Chinese players, as well as the foreign players I met when I was playing abroad. As for Wang Zhizhi, he’s a living legend. We’ll always remember what he has done for Chinese basketball." Sun said.
