Bayern did what they always tend to do against domestic opposition, and hammered Hannover 4-0 on Sunday. With that win, the Bavarians extend their league-record unbeaten run to a staggering 47 games, and increase their lead in the Bundesliga this season to 19 points.
Bastian Schweinsteiger returning for this one. Munich though started slowly, without a shot until 25 minutes in. But typically when they did have a chance they burried it. Rafinha, with the perfect ball in which finds Thomas Mueller in acres of space. No-one marking him for some reason.
9 minutes later and it was 2. Schweinsteiger picking out Thiago who brings it down expertly before smashing it past Ron-Robert Zieler in goal. And at this point, it’s a case of how many. Even Guardiola managing a smile which is rare for him.
Some lovely interplay in the 2nd half, between and Mario Mandzukic and Mueller, makes it 3, the latter sending the keeper the wrong way for his second of the night.
But they weren’t done yet, Rafinha with the cross to the backpost here, and Mandzukic rises highest to head home in the 66th minute. The Croatian celebrating his 100th appearance for Bayern with his 28th goal for the team.
With that 4-0 win, Bayern are now 19 points ahead of second placed Bayer Leverkusen. And at means they could, technically, seal the title as soon as March 15th.
