A U.S. appeals court on Friday handed Samsung a win over Apple in a long-running patent fight. This means that Samsung will not have to pay Apple nearly U.S.$120 million for smartphone features.
The court said Samsung did not infringe Apple's "quick links" patent. It also said two other patents covering the iPhone's slide-to-unlock and auto-correct features were invalid. The court added that Apple was liable for infringing one of Samsung's patents.
The suit was originally filed by Apple in early 2012. Samsung denied any wrongdoing and filed a countersuit, beginning the war between the two rivals.
