Although steel ships seem to be an obvious option in the shipping industry in modern days, wooden boats are still the primary choice for 90 percent of fishermen casting their nets off the coast of northern Chinese province of Hebei, and northeastern province of Liaoning. 53-year-old Zhang Xinghua is the only foreman in a village in Liaoning Province who still masters the whole procedure of ship building, backed by over 30 years of experience. Precision is crucial for Zhang, whose careful craftsmanship and innovative techniques have helped reduce the margin of error in the building process of these mega structures.
