Special report: 'Red Shirts' mass rally
The death toll climbed to 21 resulted from the deadliest clashes between Thai security forces and red-shirt demonstrators, the Erawan emergency center said on Sunday.
Monchai Saejong, 54, is the latest fatality from the bloody conflict in Bangkok on Saturday night. Being an emphysema patient, he is said to have died of respiratory difficulties aggravated by inhaling tear gas.
The number of injured people stood at 858, 224 of them were still being treated at Phramongkutklao hospital.
The center said medicines, blood and other medical supplies were currently adequate for the wounded protesters and soldiers.
