In another of her legendary gaffes, former US vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin has called on the United States to stand with its North Korean allies.

"So this speaks to a bigger picture that certainly scares me in terms of our national security policy. But obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies. We're bound to by treaty."
Palin was derided for her lack of foreign policy knowledge during her 2008 vice-presidential campaign. Fox News reported that she thought Africa was a country, rather than a continent.
In another hilarious episode she was fooled by a Canadian comedian who telephoned her pretending to be Nicolas Sarkozy. Despite an over-the-top French accent and the bizarre content of the conversation Palin remained convinced she was talking to the French president throughout the six minute call.
But the former governor of Alaska is wildly popular with the anti-Obama Tea Party movement and is widely believed to be preparing to seek the Republican nomination for the 2012 presidential election.
