Chinese State Councilor Liu Yandong left Beijing Thursday for a visit to Britain, Belgium and Cyprus until April 21.

During her stay in Britain, Liu will co-chair with the British side the first meeting of a high-level mechanism on bilateral cultural exchanges. She will also attend China-themed activities at the London book fair, said a statement released by the Foreign Ministry.

Liu will co-chair the first meeting of a high-ranking forum on China-European Union cultural exchanges and pay a visit to the EU headquarters during her visit to Belgium, said the statement.
