Indonesia's Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Mari Elka Pangestu has said that 10 major Indonesian cities will host a series of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings slated for October next year, local media reported on Friday.
"Besides the main event, we will have a series of international programs and meetings, including music and art shows and seminars, " she said quoted by the Antara news agency.
The 10 major cities were Lombok, Medan, Palembang, Yogyakarta, Bandung, Jakarta, Manado, Makassar, Semarang, and Surabaya, the minister said.
The minister said the idea to hold APEC meetings in several cities across the country was intended to promote Indonesia's potentialities and boost up creative economy businesses. The APEC final meeting was scheduled in Bali.
"This is a good opportunity for Indonesia," Mari said in Bali.
The promotion of potentialities in each cities and areas surrounding it would be conducted in the APEC meeting in that city.
"For example, when the APEC meeting is held in Surabaya, we will promote Mount Bromo and the Batu tourist resort," Mari said.?
