Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will attend the third Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague, the Netherlands, from March 24 to 25, at the invitation of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement on Saturday that thereafter, the prime minister will visit Luxembourg on March 26 and Britain from March 26 to 29.
The third Nuclear Security Summit in The Hague is a follow-up to the first two summits, which Lee also attended, held in Washington D.C., the United States, and Seoul, South Korea, in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
Leaders attending the summit in The Hague will assess the progress made over the past four years on national and international measures to enhance nuclear security, identify unmet objectives from the previous two summits and propose how these can be achieved.
The statement says that during his visits to Luxembourg and Britain, Lee will meet Prime Minister of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel and British Prime Minister David Cameron to discuss ways to strengthen Singapore's bilateral cooperation with the two countries, and to seek their support for the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA). Lee will also attend Singapore Day in London.
Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean will be the acting Prime Minister from March 23 to 25, and Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam will be the acting Prime Minister from March 26 to 30. Endi
