Lawyer Fethi Tarbel, youth and sports minister of Libya's new interim government, has resigned, a source close to the ruling National Transitional Council said Sunday.
Tarbel, from the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, was named the head of the youth and sports ministry in a cabinet lineup unveiled by interim Prime Minister Abdel Rahim el-Keeb on Nov. 22.
Tarbel, a "revolutionist", quit because of discontent over the appointment, making him the first minister to leave Libya's first post-Muammar Gaddafi government, the source said.
Tarbel tendered his resignation two days ago, the source said, adding that in fact, he never came to Tripoli to "take the post."
