Obama made the remarks during a dialogue with Chinese youth in China's economic hub Shanghai.
"Today we have a positive, constructive and comprehensive relationship that opens the door to partnership on the key global issues of our time: economic revocery, development of clean energy, stopping the spread of nuclear weapons and the surge of climate change, the promotion of peace and security in Asia and around the globe," he said.
Obama arrived in Shanghai late on Sunday and met city officials Monday morning before his meeting with young Chinese.
He will head to Beijing Monday afternoon.
