Shenzhen plans to introduce a classification system to its metro railway system, in which the trains that runs beneath the city surface will have VIP compartments, Southern Metropolis Daily reported.
Deputy Secretary of the local government Zhao Penglin confirmed the plan on Thursday, saying the first-class compartments will ensure each passenger has a seat, at the cost of twice as much as a regular ticket.
The segregated compartments "meet passengers' different demands," Zhao said.
