Record champion Bayern Munich overran relegation threatened Hannover 7-0 while second positioned Schalke remains in touching distance to Bayern after they defeated midtable team Monchengladbach 3-1 on Sunday in Bundesliga.
Bremen displaced Leverkusen from third position after they beat defending champion Wolfsburg 4-2 on Saturday. Record champion Bayern gave Hannover a lesson after a hammering 7-0 victory.
In a one-sided affair, Bayern started as expected aggressive and offensive orientated to defend Bundesliga top position while over challenged Hannover defended deep.
In the 15th minute, Bayern captain Mark van Bommel collected his 10th yellow card to miss the next match against Monchengladbach.
However, Bayern staged good passing and build up play. In the 22th minute, Bayern smoothed the way for their victory. Striker Ivica Olic nodded home a cross from the right wing by defender Diego Contento to mark the opener.
Only eight minutes later, Bayern midfielder Arjen Robben doubled the lead after he finished a superb through ball from their own half by Mark van Bommel with a well-placed lob.
Bayern kept it bowling and tripled the lead minutes before break through striker Thomas Mueller who hammered the ball from 11 meters right footed into top left corner.
After the interval, Bayern extended the lead at the 49th minute. Striker Ivica Olic headed a fumble by Hannover goalie Florian Fromlowitz into open goal. Furthermore, Bayern midfielder Arjen Robben reached a long through ball from defender Phillip Lahm to overcome Hannover’s defence and scored the fifth goal for Bayern.
Finally striker Thomas Mueller and midfielder Arjen Robben marked the final 7-0 score. Hannover was absolutely over challenged and unable to put up some resistance.
Bayern defends top position with 63 points followed by Schalke with 61 points and Bremen with 54 points.
On the same day, Bremen turned around in a goal festival against defending champions Wolfsburg.
As expected Wolfsburg and Bremen started offensive orientated. 18 minutes after kick off Bundesliga top striker Edin Dzeko marked the opener from penalty area into bottom right corner to mark his 20th Bundesliga goal this season.
In the 38th minute Bremen midfielder Torsten Frings converted a penalty to equalize the score. Wolfsburg needed only two minutes to answer the leveller by Bremen. Striker Grafite utilized a deflected through ball by midfielder Misimovic to bring Wolfsburg 2-1 up front.
