Wang Yihan is a top player on the Chinese national badminton team. Born in Shanghai on January 18, 1988, Wang started badminton training at the age of nine. She was selected for the national second badminton team in 2005, and after being promoted to the first team in 2006, she began to shine in major tournaments. By October 2009 she was the top ranked women's singles player in the world. In 2011, she won the women's singles title during the World Badminton Championships. Also that year, she won the Super Series Finals of the Badminton World Federation (BWF). At London 2012, she won silver in the women's singles event, losing to her teammate Li Xuerui.
