Located in New York City, the 9/11 memorial was built to commemorate those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. It is situated at the World Trade Center site and was opened in a dedication ceremony on the 10th anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2011. The names of 2,983 victims are inscribed on 76 bronze plates attached to the parapet walls that form the edges of the memorial pools. The beauty and elegance of the memorial makes visitors feel both bitter and respectful. The memorial attracted more than 1 million visitors in only three months after its opening.
