Kim Jong Il, long-time leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), died at the age of 69 "from a great mental and physical strain" on Dec. 17. Kim Jong Un, Kim's third son, was hailed as the DPRK people's new great leader by both the country's authorities and media following his father's death.
