Since late July, the whole of Thailand, except for its southern region, has been afflicted by a disastrous deluge. The floods hit 65 out of 77 provinces and affected more than 13 million, or one in five Thai people. Caused by heavy monsoon rains and back-to-back tropical storms, the natural disaster also swamped tens of thousands of manufactures, left a million employees at risk of losing their jobs and caused economic losses of up to US$28 billion.
